How we collect data

This is an overview of how we handle your personal data. Please see the sections below for further details.

We don't collect any personal data on our website. However, we're utilizing Cloudflare, a third party, to host our website and speed up access and load times by distributing it across the globe over their content delivery network.

If you sign up to our newsletter, your data is being collected by Mailchimp, the third-party newsletter service we're using.

Your rights

GDPR is all about your rights as users and that's great! You can exercise your rights by sending us an email at [email protected].

  • You can access information on all data stored about you
Get in touch and we will provide you with all information on data we hold about you.
  • You have the right to be 'forgotten' by us
Let us know and we will delete all your personal data that we store.
  • You have the right to correct any personal data stored about you
If there's any personal data about you that should be corrected by us, please let us know.
  • You have the right to withdraw your consent
If you signed up for our newsletter, you can unsubscribe from it at any time. You can do this on your own with the unsubscribe button in every newsletter we send. But we are also happy to do this for you if needed. Just let us know.
  • You have the right to port your data to another service
We will give you a copy of your data in a plain text format so that you can provide it to another service.
  • You have the right to file a complaint regarding our use of your data
Please tell us first so we have a chance to address your concerns. If we fail in this, you can address any complaint to your national data protection authorities.

Our website does not set any cookies. It's that simple.

Analytics and tracking

As of August 9, 2022, we no longer use any trackers, integrated social media buttons or analytics services on our website.

Prior to this, we used Google Analytics as our primary analytics provider. We configured Google Analytics to anonymize IP addresses, and we deliberately disabled Data Collection for Advertising Features, and all data-sharing settings.

SSL encryption

This site uses SSL encryption to protect the transmission of confidential data. Our SSL certificate is issued by Let's Encrypt. You can recognize an encrypted connection in your browser's address line when it changes from http:// to https:// and when the (usually green) lock icon is displayed in your browser's address bar. In many browsers, clicking the lock icon will give you further information about the website related to your privacy.

If SSL encryption is activated, the data you transfer to us cannot be read by third parties.

The servers for our website are provided by:

Cloudflare, Inc.
101 Townsend St,
San Francisco, CA 94107

Cloudflare does not keep raw server logs, so it is impossible for us to track individual visitors of this website. However, Cloudflare does generate aggregate data, so they can provide analytics, which include numbers of hits, page views, bandwidth consumed and unique visitors. If you want to learn more about what Cloudflare logs, check out their eponymous blog post.

Cloudflare complies with GDPR. You can find their privacy policy here:

You can sign up for the Third Shift newsletter to stay up-to-date with all our goings-on. You have to use the linked sign-up form on our website and confirm your subscription with the double-opt-in process. MailChimp will collect your email address and your permission on our behalf to contact you. We're not asking for any more information from you.

All subscriber data is collected by Mailchimp, which belongs to Inuit Inc.:

Intuit Inc.
2700 Coast Ave
Mountain View, CA 94043

Mailchimp offers analytics tools to check if newsletters have been opened and links have been clicked. We only use those analytics to see how interesting and relevant our newsletters are over time. We never use them to analyze individual subscribers.

You may edit your preferences or unsubscribe at any time by clicking the relevant link in one of our email newsletters. If you need help with unsubscribing, just send an email to [email protected] and we will take care of it for you.

Mailchimp and their parent company, Inuit Inc., both comply with GDPR. You can find our more about their privacy policy on their site:

This privacy policy is based primarily on guidance kindly provided by Piper Haywood's and also draws inspiration from the clearly-worded documentation provided by Kirby CMS.
